Where to Look

First let me remind you of rule number 4, “You must participate in your own rescue.”

Finding a support group in your area will either be easy or very hard depending where you live geographically. The
bigger the city you live near, the better. Rural areas are tricky. If you're lucky, maybe a church in your area might have one and this type of support in other countries is almost nonexistent.

The pandemic and Zoom changed that. Alcoholic Anonymous for example, now has 24 hour zoom
meetings every single day.

Additionally, I run a free Zoom divorce support meeting every Tuesday night worldwide.

The resource that helped me start my journey is free and a great place to start. Its an app or website
located at www.meetup.com and search by ZIP Code for the closest support group near you. Put in
the word “divorce”, “widow”, “narcissistic abuse”, “gardening”; whatever it is that interests you and

you will be connected with your local community. There are many different types of support groups
but I would look for one where people share their stories with a strong mediator who enforces the
clock so everyone gets a chance to tell their story.

If you absolutely must have a group that meets face-to-face, then check out some of the websites I
have listed below, the videos section or the resources tab to aid you in your search.

If that fails, pick up the phone and call every church in your local area and ask them if they provide a
support group that fits your current need.

Next, I would call all the therapists in your local area and ask them for help if you can afford it.
Always remember you are looking for the therapist that tells you “what you don’t want to hear” and
it should be one that drops mind blowing epiphanies on you that are so good that it changes not only
your life but you yourself now feel compelled to share that same wisdom with others.

I will also continue to build this website hopefully that others in the future will be able to use as a
map to the support they feel they need.
